Utter Wisdom

I’m from a small country town in Tennessee. Each morning on my way to work I would pass by a pasture of cows. I’m a timely person so as I drove by they would be doing the same thing. Walking down the hill, through the gate and to the feeding area. One particular morning it was quiet windy and the gate had been blown closed. So, as I drove past I noticed that the cows were clustered at the gate, but not moving. Me being the inquisitive one that I am, I stop to look. The gate was not locked. Was not really closed. It was just pushed up from the wind. But they stood there frozen. Waiting for someone, something to move the gate for them.
The Lord spoke to my heart right then. He said there are some things in our lives that are just like this gate. They’re not locked. They’re not closed. There’s just been a few trials, tribulations and obstacles that have pushed them up. We’re standing at the gate ready to walk in, but afraid to push further because maybe we don’t know what’s one the other side. Maybe we’ve been hurt and we think more hurt is ahead. Maybe we’re comfortable where we are and just don’t desire to go forward anymore. Maybe we’re waiting for someone to do it for us. Whatever the reason God has called US to more. So, he’s unlocked and opened the gate. It’s time we stopped standing there with excuses and walk boldly in.
I challenge you today to think about what God is calling you to. Is it a deeper relationship with him? Is it ministry? Is it forgiveness? Is it a relationship? Whatever it is be obedient and walk in it. Do let that gate get in your way!! It’s open God said push in further.
